SEO Tips for Increased Website Traffic

Every online business owner should be aware of a few simple seo tips that they themselves can implement to increase their search engine ranking. Often times in haste to improve any off or online business people will rush to hire an (overpriced) consultant.

Without question search engine optimization is important for any person or entity wanting to increase their ranking with the search engines. Of equal importance however is developing a basic understanding of how seo works and why.

By quickly introducing outside consultants to address this need for us we tend to sidestep this learning process ourselves. This ends up costing us both a valuable education and money. Let’s have a look at a few basic seo techniques we ourselves can implement that should improve both our search engine ranking and our budget.

SELECTING A DOMAIN NAME

As trite as this step may seem to many in the process of setting up their online business it is really a critical step. The name selected should, if possible, reflect what the site or business is about. As a rule the more specific you can be the better chances you’ll have to get your site indexed quicker. Also it is wise to keep your domain as short as possible.

The temptation to get too ‘cute’ with a catchy name should be avoided at this stage unless it is directly related to your site, business, or perhaps one of your products.

SELECTING A TITLE TAG

This lets the search engines know what your site is about. This is the first thing a search engine will see and it will be judged upon the relevancy it has to the content of your website. It is highly recommended to insure your most important keywords are located in the title tag to increase the relevancy between the site and title.

MONITOR YOUR KEYWORD DENSITY

The keywords you select should all be relevant to the content of your site itself. Your choice of keywords is critical so be sure there is a DIRECT relationship between these words and your sites intent.

Close attention should also be paid to the way the words are used within the site content and the frequency of their use. Be sure your selected words are used naturally as would be the case in a casual conversation and take note NOT to use them too frequently.

Overuse could get your penalized by the search engines thereby lowering your search engine rankings. If the need to frequently use some words due to their relevance arises, have a list of synonyms available for substitution.

A keyword density of between 2 and 5 percent is a suggestion margin to target to both accurately reflect your sites content and keep you in ‘good graces’ with search engines.

INCOMING LINKS

Links that come from external sites reflect to search engines how popular, relevant, or important your site is. The more links you have (within reason – don’t go overboard) the higher regard search engines tend to have for your site. This usually results in a higher ranking for your site.

When leaving a link back to your site at other sites you’re visiting it is recommended to use keywords from your site in the anchor text.

These simple seo tips we’ve discussed here today should greatly improve the optimization of your site if this techniques haven’t already been implemented. Paying attention to the content of your site and how you use your keywords will definitely enhance your standings in any search engine rankings.

How to increase a websites pagerank – all you need to know about Google Pagerank

Google works out your web page’s PageRank by treating each incoming link to your website as a vote. For example, if google.com has an outgoing link to seorevo.com, Google consider the link as a vote for seorevo.com. It’s similar to you being recommended a good plumber by a friend – the recommendation strengthens your confidence in employing him.

Link Analysis

What is link analysis? Google do not purely count the links coming into your site, in order to calculate PageRank, the search engine robots analyze the page linking to your site. The more important and relevant that the linking page is to the keyphrase entered, the higher the relevance that Google gives to your page, so taking link analysis into account when organizing reciprocal links, is something to bear in mind. Link analysis takes into account the following on-page and off-page factors when calculating PageRank and page relevance:
• The PR of the linking page
• Whether the linking page is on-focus, (if you have a financial website, an on focus link would be a   link from another financial website. A link from a site about flowers would be considered off-focus)
• The number of outgoing links on the outgoing link page, (if there are 500 outgoing links, it will not   be considered as relevant as a page with only 20 outgoing links)
• The quality of the incoming links directed at the website of the outgoing link

Incoming links and PageRank are a major part of the Google algorithm. Google considers many factors when working out where you will stand in the rankings, for each individual search phrase, including on page content, page titles, code compliancy, the weight of the source code and ease of navigation.

What Page Rank should I aim for?

The higher the better! The PageRank scale is between 0 and 10. If your site is PageRank 0, (PR0) to PagRank 2, (PR2) you should certainly consider establishing a link campaign to attract new links to the site to boost PageRank. If your site is PageRank 3 (PR3) and you are competing for fairly non-competitive search terms, you should concentrate on on-page optimization. If you still don’t achieve positions, then try to boost PageRank to PR4 or PR5. PageRank 4 (PR4) and PageRank 5 (PR5) are seen as fairly relevant sites and unless you are in a really competitive market, it is probably sufficient to rank fairly well if the on-page optimization is in place. PageRank6 (PR6) or above, is sufficient PR for almost any area of the market, but once your are PR6 or above, other webmasters will naturally want to link to you, so you will be offered reciprocal links almost every day, allowing you to further strengthen Page Rank with little effort.

How is the PageRank calculated?

Google uses the next formula for calculating pagerank:
PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + … + PR(tn)/C(tn))
The various parameters in the above equation are:
• PR – PageRank
• A – A certain webpage. PR(A) – pagerank for page A.
• d – Damping coefficient. The value of this parameter usually equals 0.85
• t1-tn – - Pages that link to page A.
• PR(t1) – Pagerank for page t1.
• C – Number of outbound links on a webpage. C(t1) – number of outbound links on page t1.
Actually, if we observe the equation, we can understand a few things:
• A page’s PR = 0.15 + 0.85 + (the total of transferred votes of confidence).
• Each page has a voting power that is evenly distributed between the pages it links to.
• A link from a page that contains a single link is better that a link from a page that contains many   links (if the two pages have the same PR).
• The PR building process is when webpages receive voting power from the pages that link to them, and   they transfer this power to the pages they link to.
• A page’s voting power is 85% of its PR.

Losing PR as a result of linking to another page.

When a webpage votes for another webpage, it does not lose PR. The PR level is not set by the pages it votes for, but rather by the pages that vote for it. However, when a page votes for a webpage on another site, it creates PR Leakage, meaning that the PR that could have been added to other pages on the same site is instead invested in pages on a different site.

Link Campaigning.

Although link campaigning is a laborious and time-consuming task if done manually, so the best thing is to use a good SEO tool to automate the process. Look to add the equivalent of 30 PR3s to your site each month, preferably made up of higher PageRank links, i.e. 6 x PR4s or a PR 5 and 5 PR3s. Don’t go crazy and try and bring in hundreds of links in one month, keep the progression as natural as possible.

    Improve Google PageRank NOW!

PageRank is a link analysis algorithm which was named after its creator – Larry Page. Google uses PageRank to determine the authority of any given website. PageRank often determines how high (or low) a website will rank in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) for any given keyword.

Sites with relatively high PR often outrank those with low PR. While many SEO experts will debate that statement, don’t let them fool you, PageRank is extremely important when it comes to SEO, Google and Organic Search Engine Traffic.

In this post, I want to focus on the factors that determine the PageRank of any given website and how you can deliberately focus on those specific areas of your SEO campaign in order to boost your website’s PageRank to get more organic search engine traffic.

    How Google Algorithm is Calculated

For many years, large numbers of internet Heroes, Warriors and Vikings have tried to conquer Google PageRank Algorithm. Many of them have tried to crack the algorithm’s code, but there is yet to be found a man who is capable of such an act of bravery.

Google constantly keeps changing the rules as soon as someone gets even close to cracking their data. However, overtime, great mathematicians have discovered an approximate way of how PageRank works:

    PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + … + PR(tn)/C(tn))

In simple terms this equation can be translated into:

a page’s PageRank = 0.15 + 0.85 * (a “share” of the PageRank of every page that links to it)

*Share = The linking page’s PageRank is divided by the number of outbound links

    Factors That Can Improve Pagerank

Check out the list of things that can improve your PageRank and help you rank higher in SERPs:

Update Pages Frequently. Google bots are constantly indexing your website. Keep your pages relevant and up to date.

Add Pages Frequently. Google recognizes fresh content as a good thing.

No Broken Links. Broken links are a disaster. It notifies Google that you don’t care about your website and therefore it doesn’t deserve Google’s respect.

Good Neighborhood Directories With High PageRank Levels. Submitting your site to relevant, high PR directories gives you valuable high PR backlinks.

Monster Websites. I have no idea what this means, just copied it from another trusted website.

Quality Inbound Links. PageRank is all about the quality. 10 links from a PR 5 website is far better than 100 links from a 2 PR site.

Quality Relevant Links. Relevancy is Key. Keep your link-building campaigns relevant to your sites theme.

Everything Put Together. All of these will result in a significant PageRank boost.

    Avoid These!

Bad Inbound PPSD Links. PPSD=Poker, Porn, Sex, Drugs

    Low Quality Content

    Link Spamming

    Black Hat SEO

    High Volume of Broken Links

      Google Pagerank Update

With much enthusiasm and equally much concern, there are clear signs that a new Google PageRank update is happening right now as we speak.

Most of you, web site owners, publishers and SEO consultants, are probably dreading these updates just as much as I do: after a period of working hard into acquiring new valuable links, the inevitable question is “Will I be rewarded? And if so, just how much?”

Let’s take a glimpse into what the new PageRank update is bringing:

First, let’s see what will your page’s new PageRank be?

If you haven’t done this yet, check the page(s) that interest you using a Future PageRank tool (available from http://www.teawithedge.com/google_pr_update.html ).

This simple tool sends queries to known Google data centers in order to retrieve the PageRank of the given URL. It should normally show the same PageRank for all centers, however, if you run the tool during an actual PageRank update, you can see variations from one data center to another thus previewing what your page’s future PageRank will be.

      Caught any changes?

Whatever the answer, there are some logical explanations for it.

After studying the performance of several web sites, these are the conclusions I have come upon:

      1. The trend to reward links from content-related web sites continues.

Web sites that have focused on gathering quality links, both reciprocal and non-reciprocal, from web sites with related content, shall expect to see their efforts to be successful: a relatively small amount of related links, even if reciprocal, proves to be much more beneficial than thousands of totally unrelated links.

However, one must not forget that climbing on the PageRank ladder becomes increasingly difficult as you ascend. If your web site already had a good PageRank before this update (i.e. 4 and above) it is possible not to see an improvement on the 0 to 10 scale. The true PageRank scale is exponential: the distance from 3 to 4 is much smaller than the distance from 4 to 5, and the distance from 4 to 5 is tiny compared to the distance from 5 to 6!

If you know you have planned and executed your SEO plan correctly in terms of building link popularity (and that means focusing on gathering links from related sites, work towards getting non-reciprocal links, and paid attention to various way PageRank can leak out of your pages), keep on the good works and if possible intensify them: you’ll be rewarded by the next update, depending on how high is your current PageRank.

      2. Newly created web sites are able to achieve a nice PageRank from their first PageRank update, providing they played fair in the link building game: little but quality links, and care for not leaking PageRank when not necessary can easily get a PR of 3 to a new site!

The issue of PageRank leaking has been probably overly-discussed within the SEO media, yet it might still be useful to mention that there is “good” leaking and “bad” leaking and it’s only up to the site’s publisher to make a choice:

      - “good leaking” is when a site links to external resources that are of benefit for its readers, thus giving a vote of trust and approval to the linked site;

      - similarly, “bad leaking” is when a site associates itself with a resource search engines (Google, in this case) dislike, such as link farms, sites employing gray or black SEO techniques, or sites with totally unrelated content (this usually happens when, in an attempt to monetize a site, ads and links to unrelated resources are published).

      3. Sites that acquired no new linkbacks since the previous update seem not to be penalized (unlike a while ago!), and stay constant with their older PageRank.

The current PageRank scale seems to be stabile and it might take a while until it is brought down a level, in order to keep some proportions to it.

If this is the case for your sites, it might be a good idea that you start a link building campaign in order to make sure your site is not in danger of being brought down at a further update. Depending on the intensity and quality of your campaign, you can even go up the ladder – with all the benefits this can bring.

To sum up, Google’s new PageRank update shows clear signs of continuing the existing trend of rewarding those who employ clean, honest techniques against the less innocent ones. This is nothing but good news for the SEO community and serious publishers, however, there’s no guarantee we will live to see the end of the war between the “good” guys and the “bad” guys of the SEO world.

A Few Things of Google PageRank

Many Bloggers try hard to reach a high PageRank by a high PageRank there will be a lot of benefit to the site / blog, one of other benefit is that it brings some money to your website and can make your efforts valuable. But it is not easy to get a high PageRank, google implements logarithmic scale from one level of PageRank to the next level. Talking about PageRank, emphasizing to links structure than content, to improve PageRank we have to understand what is the PageRank and links among pages that can influence the PageRank.

        Understanding The Google PageRank

PageRank is a method that used by google to measure the importance of page on the web. The PageRank is different with rank system to sort relevan web to query but PageRank combined with rank system and text-matching techniques used by google to retrieve pages that relevant to the user query.

PageRank considers the links among pages, if the web www.enginecarts.com has been linked from www.ponbiss.com,  google will consider a link from ponbiss as a “vote” to enginecarts, vote from one page to another giving certain amount to another is a little less than its own PageRank value (its own value * 0.85). This value is shared equally between all the pages that it links to,  number 0,85 is a damping factor is used in google system.

Let’s take a look at the PageRank formula, that calculates a PageRank of page

        PR(A) = (1- d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + …+PR(tn)/C(tn)
PR(A) is a PageRank of page
PR(t1) is a PageRank of page t1 that link to page A
C(t1) is the total of outbound links that had by (t1)

Imagine if enginecarts was linked by ponbiss that would have PR4 and 9 other outbound links, so based on the formula, the result of calculation is :

        PR (enginecarts) =(1-0.85)+0.85*(4/10)
        PR (enginecarts)=0.15+0.85*(0.4)
        PR(enginecarts)=0.15+0.34
        PR(enginecarts)=0.49

So enginecart will get some PR addition  0.49 after linked by a page with PR4 and having 9 outbound links  Another example if enginecarts was linked by ponbiss that would have PR 8, that would have 15 outbound links, so the total is 16 outbound links.  So addition that enginecart would get is :

        PR (enginecarts) =(1-0.85)+0.85*(8/16)

        PR (enginecarts)=0.15+0.85*(0.5)

        PR(enginecarts)=0.15+0.425

        PR(enginecarts)=0.575

We can get a conclusion as important consideration not only PageRank of ww.ponbiss.com but also amount of outbound links of www.ponbiss.com

        Inbound Link

Inbound link is a hyperlink that points to a your site’s page from another site’s page. When visitors click on this particular link, he will be redirected to site’s page. In turn is beneficial to increase website traffic. The more inbound links your website has the more often the search engine robots will visit your website as well as more it will appear in search engine results.

In the google PageRank system an inbound link is considered as a vote from another page,  a vote gives certain value that can increase linked PageRank. The value that shares another

page is depending on quality of inbound link, PageRank and amount of outbound links on that page. The more outbound links on a page will give the less its PageRank. In many cases having an inbound link from PR 6 page will give significant effect to our PR. But if in fact the page has 100 outbound links to other sites, PR increase will be almost zero.

Also If a page has only PR 2, but there is only an outbound link, then PR increase will be more compared page with 100 outbound links and PR 6.

Google doesn’t only count incoming-links that had by page. Google looks at more than voting the page only, but google also analyzes the page that get vote. Vote got by page of course considered important and can help another page becoming important.

        Outbound Link

The reason of bloggers to put outbound links basically beside making reference about relevance of certain contents, braiding a friendship to bloggers and hoping to get some backlinks.

But It needs to be noticed is how to optimize the outbound links in order that having good effect and more beneficial

The following some Tips to optimize the quality outbound links in order to good effect and more beneficial :

Give a quality outbound link on the posting

A blogger gives an outbound link one other thing to help a popularity other sites or blogs. But remember this influences to your reputation if the blogs have bad contents.

Give an outbound link to a new blog

Most bloggers give the outbound links only to senior blogs, but it is not wrong if you give a link to beginner or your fans. So they likely will give backlink to your blog without asking to exchange links. This is a part of marketing strategy to start building an online business network.

Giving some love links to your friends.

There is no more good way to strengthen a friendship string to bloggers moreover friend that you have known long, by giving some outbound links is real act to recognize that he is your friend

Reply an inbound link to a blog

Giving backlink to a blog that links to your blog particularly if one network , by condition that link is really relevant with your content

The outbound link as adding information

This means in order that blog visitors getting more a reference and adding information from the one of your more specific article

Strengthen the posting by outbound link

Giving an outbound link to reputable web site, for example to wikipedia.org. if it is relevant this will give good effect to your posting and give more value on your article in search engine eyes.

        Adding Some New Pages

Adding some new pages can influence PageRank. If we take a look at the site, It has some inbound links from other sites. Each page of the site has its own page rank. When a page is added to the site, and the page will be linked to from one or more other pages. The new page will get the PageRank from other pages, and other pages on the site will lose its own PageRank. While total PageRank will increase. The more new pages added the greater page rank loss among existing pages.

Distribution of PageRank loss from each page depends on structure of the links. The more uniform PageRank is distributed by the links within a site, the more even page rank loss among pages.

Adding a new page can increase the total of PageRank but it will reduce existing page’s Page Rank on the site. Better way is increasing some inbound links from other sites to balance effect of adding page. Another way is linking to the new pages such a way within the site that the important pages don’t suffer.
